There are currently TWO programs where we are fielding teams for robotics competitions: World Robot Olympiad (WRO) and FIRST LEGO League (FLL).

The WRO is a wonderful summer competition program and a great way for kids who have had experience with LEGO robotics to test out and expand upon their knowledge and skill. If your children do not have the time during the year to become involved in these types of activities, then the WRO is especially nice since it’s only during the summer.

Our FLL program starts with our preseason meetings in the summer and then continue for 10 weeks during the fall cycle. This competition is different than the WRO in that it incorporates research into a specific scientific field.

Both robotics competitions culminate in an all-day competition day where the children can meet other kids who are interested and motivated in this arena and where they can learn from each other.

World Robot Olympiad Competition Team

We’re about to close our registration for the World Robot Olympiad Team. There are only 2 spots left and registration will close this Friday. The next opportunity to participate won’t be until next year … so, if you’re looking to engage your kids in a summer activity that incorporates STEM with the thrill of competition, this program is for you!

Check out our blog post here and additional information/registration here.

Our FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Robotics Competition Team is Almost Full …

fll 2019 competition table

As we indicated in our earlier post we are fielding only 1 robotics competition team for the FLL. That means we have space for a maximum of 10 students.

We have high goals of advancing to the next level beyond the first round and we’re looking for highly motivated children who are good team players.

There are only a couple more spots left and we may actually close registration for this team without filling all 10 spots as we have a very strong team now. However, because this is such a wonderful experience for kids, we are keeping registration open for a little longer.

Participation in this robotics competition team requires the following time commitment:

  • pre-season meetings, August 19-23, 1:00-2:30pm
  • 10 sessions, Mondays, beginning September 9, 5:30-7:00pm
  • participation in FLL Competition (all day event, usually a weekend day week before Thanksgiving)

For more information and to register, please visit our FLL page.

Once registration closes, you will need to wait until next year to participate so don’t delay!
